What’s Trending, the online talk show hosted by Friend of Nerdist Shira Lazar, is doing something nice today, and you should know about it, so…
It’s the first annual “Tube-a-Tweet-a-Thon Holiday Spectacular,” and it’s a live-streamed variety show with some of your favorite performers and Internet personalities in an event to raise money and awareness for Covenant House, which has been helping homeless youth for, like, forever, and is also involved in helping those kids in the wake of Hurricane Sandy. The official list of guests for what they call a combination of a “classic 1960s old school variety show with the digital smartphone culture of today” include Doug Benson, Alison Haislip, Kevin Pollak, Josh Malina, iJustine, Heather McDonald, American Idol‘s Pia Toscano, the cast of âAnnoying Orangeâ, Kevin Pollak, Shay Carl, Hannah Hart, Daily Grace, Pentatonix, The Gregory Brothers, and more.
The thing airs tonight, December 13th, 6 pm Pacific/9 pm Eastern, at YouTube.com/WhatsTrending. It includes a charity Tweetup using the hashtag #Tubeathon, and you can donate via Twitter or online at http://www.virginmobilelive.com/donate, but be aware that for every tweet using the #Tubeathon hashtag, Virgin Mobile will also donate $1 to Covenant House up to $50,000.
So check it out, donate if you can, and get involved. If everything works out right, you can watch it live below:
