Last year, AMC’s The Walking Dead set a series record in its fifth season. The show boasted a massive seventeen series regulars in its cast, but that number started to slowly decrease as the season progressed. Now, as we sit just about a month away from the premiere of season six, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that newest season will push that record even higher. With the addition of Lennie James, Alexandra Breckenridge, Tovah Feldshuh, and Austin Nichols to the list of regular cast members  will be seeing a lot more of their respective characters — the newly bad-ass zen master Morgan, Rick’s possible love interest Jessie, Alexandria’s current leader Deanna, and Deanna’s son Spencer. This pushes the regular cast for the show up to an impressive eighteen actors, thus surpassing their record from last season.
The other bit of news involved in the story is that a new piece of promotional key art for the season has also been revealed, and it pretty much speaks for itself. An ominous sky looms behind Rick Grimes, who is far from the Officer Friendly he once was. Many of the cast have said that season six may very well be the season that destroys a lot of the characters, and as the shows nears the inevitable Negan storyline, that could very well be true.
The sixth season of The Walking Dead will premiere on AMC on October 11th, after everyone has gotten all tuckered out from New York Comic-Con. Who do you think will be the first regular to make the turn into Walker food? Let us know in the comments below!
As for the one question The Walking Dead won’t answer — namely how the virus started — we can turn to our own Kyle Hill, who explains on Because Science:
