The Vasquez and Newt ALIENS Figures You’ve Wanted Are Getting Made

Following the recent celebration of “Alien Day,” and marking the 30th anniversary of Aliens, NECA Toys has finally decided to right a long-standing wrong. See, back in the ’80s, it was naively believed that nobody should or would buy action figures based on R-rated movies…a notion prompted by an action figure from the first Alien movie that induced a parental outcry. As such, nobody thought to sign any of the actors in a movie like Aliens to a likeness contract that would allow for their faces to appear on official merchandise. Kenner released an Aliens toy line in the ’90s, back when it first became clear there was a demand, but while it did include characters like Ripley, Bishop, and Vasquez, they were generic humans who didn’t (and legally couldn’t) look like the real people who played them.

NECA finally brought Sigourney Weaver on board last year, and this week revealed that Vasquez and Frost are joining their line-up of Space Marines that has already included Hicks, Hudson, and the special tribute figure Sgt. Windrix, based on the late brother of toy sculptor Kyle Windrix. Joining the two new recruits is an albino xenomorph mentioned in James Cameron’s original script, and in addition to being paler than its brethren, this critter boasts an “excretory probe” tongue in place of the usual inner jaws. It’s bendy.

The toy company has said they probably won’t be able to get to every character, but as a San Diego Comic-Con exclusive, they will at long last be delivering this little girl:

They’ll mostly just be available to attendees…mostly. A few will be sold online during the July event for collectors who cannot attend. Vasquez, Frost, and the alien Gene Simmons impersonator will hit stores in September.

Is there anyone left in the Alien universe who’s a must-have for your collection in the future? Ron Perlman as Johner, maybe? Nuke our comments section from orbit with your thoughts.

How would Newt’s return change the Alien franchise? We talk about it here!
