It’s the end of the week, pals. Why not head into your weekend with the latest television news stuffed into your heads? Today’s TV-Cap has news about Nina Dobrev coming back to The Vampire Diaries, word on who’s been cast as Sebastian in Shadowhunters, a first look at the next season of Netflix’s Love, and more.
A Reunion. It wouldn’t feel right if Nina Dobrev didn’t reprise her role as Elena in the series finale of The Vampire Diaries. The CW drama was about Elena and her journey for most of its run, after all. Dobrev’s return has been rumored and hoped for, and the actress confirmed it’s happening in a recent post on Instagram. Something Spooky. If you’ve been looking at your to-watch TV list and thinking, “Boy, I’d really like a comedic X-Files,” then I have positive news for you. Fox has followed up on their pilot production commitment and placed a pilot order for such a show from Craig Robinson and Adam Scott. It’s called Ghosted and follows Robinson and Scott’s characters are they are hired to investigate unexplained paranormal activity in Los Angeles. [Vulture]
Also, Vampires. Fox is seemingly leaning into the supernatural, because they’ve placed another pilot order that also involves the genre. They’ve committed to a pilot for The Passage, a one-hour drama “character-driven government conspiracy thriller” that “morphs into a post-apocalyptic saga with vampires.” The ambitious series with Ridley Scott as executive producer and Elizabeth Heldens as writer and co-executive producer will sprawl over a century. Logic! It’s beyond time we addressed an important question: how do The Powerpuff Girls’ hands work? They don’t have fingers. Kyle H. has a theory in the newest Because Science. Enjoy. [Nerdist]
An Important Part. I have to admit I don’t watch Freeform’s Shadowhunters (it’s on my list!), but I can see fans are very excited about the casting of Sebastian Morgenstern. He’s a key character in the books by Cassandra Clare. Anyway, he’ll be portrayed by Will Tudor and will be on board as a recurring guest star in the back half of season two (currently airing). More Life, Love, Etc. March 10 brings the return of Love–like the Netflix series from Judd Apatow, not the emotion. That’s why it’s capitalized. Netflix has released a first look for the second season, and you can put the footage in your eyeballs by clicking the play button on the above.
Think This Through. We know Rick and Morty season three is not coming down the pipeline immediately or even anytime soon, so let’s pass the time with some theories. Derrick looks at the questions we have and what he thinks might happen next to Rick Sanchez and Morty Smith here at Nerdist.
