The Underground Circuit

I’m not sure I need to say anything more than “London tube map on a circuit board,” but that’s exactly what designer Yuri Suzuki, a 2012 Designer in Residence at London’s Design Museum has created. The circuits follow the iconic map created by Harry Beck in 1931 (updated, of course, since then), and while you probably would prefer something on paper or, better, in a phone app to carry around, having one of these would be very cool.

Here’s more on Suzuki, his fascination with electronics, and his process in a video made by Alice Masters:

The pieces are on display at the Design Museum on the South Bank through January 13th.

Well that and the fact it’s a radio (sure seems to be as I can make out part of an FM antenna and you can clearly see a bar antenna in the lower left) makes this more useful than just a map!

Can’t wait to see his take on Tokyo’s. 😀
