The Ultimate 1966 Adam West Batcave Toy Is Here

Unofficially announced last summer in a leaked catalogue, and sneak-previewed last week in a Tweet from Mark Waid, it is now a confirmed, for real thing–the ultimate 1966-style Batcave playset, with an epic scope and scale that the TV series itself never even had the budget to reveal.

While most toy playsets are but part of a larger product rollout, this set includes basically everything you’d ever need from an Adam West Batman toy line, including the Batcycle, Batmobile, Batcopter, Batpoles, and minifigs of Batman, Robin, Bruce Wayne, Dick Grayson, Alfred Pennyworth, the Joker, Catwoman, the Riddler and the Penguin. (Okay, maybe not EVERYthing; you can’t have the Batcycle and not an Yvonne Craig Batgirl, so that needs to be in the works somewhere.) Images of an Eli Wallach-styled Mr. Freeze have also been making the rounds online, rumored to be some sort of in-store exclusive bonus.

And holy rose-by-any-other-name – they even found a way to make the Shakespeare bust hinge back to reveal a secret button.

You can even toss figures to their death in the atomic generator, as happened on the show exactly once, to Jill St. John, before producers realized that was a bit too dark for what they were doing.

That’s a lot to cram into one box, and still, at $269.99, charge less than for the Ghostbusters HQ set.

You’ll notice, however, that there are no Lego sharks included, because Lego shark-repellent Batspray is JUST THAT GOOD.

I’m not going to ask IF you’re going to buy this set, because it’s surely a matter of “when,” right? But where will it be displayed? What possible place of honor, safe from the fiendish fingers of fickle foes, could there be in your own stately manor, to display such a treasure?

Give us your suggestions below.
