The TROLLS Movie’s First Trailer Shows Off a Bright and Fun Film

There’s been a lot of good news for fans of 1980s media property film reboots lately, whether it’s the Tetris movie trilogy or the much-discussed Ghostbusters movie. And now there’s another reason to celebrate: The upcoming Dreamworks film Trolls has its first trailer, and it’s a ton of fun.

The most we had heard about the film was Justin Timberlake’s disco-inspired pop hit “Can’t Stop The Feeling,” but now we have some insight about the plot. Anna Kendrick voices Poppy, the happy-go-lucky leader of the Trolls, who all live in peaceful seclusion until the community is attacked by a larger, more malicious and grotesque species called the bergen.

Timberlake plays Branch, and together, in classic adventure story fashion, the two leave their village to rescue their endangered peers. Aside from the two leads, the rest of the cast is littered with familiar names, including Gwen Stefani, James Corden, Russell Brand, Icona Pop, Ron Funches, Kunal Nayaar, John Cleese, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Zooey Deschanel, Jeffrey Tambor, and others.

As expected, the world looks colorful and vibrant, and the trolls make fantastic use of their amazingly versatile and malleable hair, utilizing their follicles to whip away giant spiders and to double as makeshift staircases. Not that we don’t have faith in the sci-fi Tetris movie, but it seems like Trolls is at least a much more direct and understandable adaptation of a brand we already know and love.

The movie hits theaters on November 4, but before that, check out the trailer above, and let us know if you dig the anthropomorphic cloud guy as much as we do.
