The TITANFALL Developers are Creating a New STAR WARS Game

Can you image a Star Wars game with the action of God of War and the scale of Titanfall? It may not be a fantasy much longer, thanks to some very welcome Star Wars Day news from Titanfall developer Respawn!

Former God of War director Stig Asmussen posted a message on Respawn Entertainment’s website that reveals that the company is making a new “third-person action/adventure game set in the Star Wars universe” that will be published by EA. The announcement was light on details about the new Star Wars game, but Asmussen wasn’t shy about sharing his feelings about the franchise.

“I have been playing Star Wars games my whole life, now I get to make a Star Wars game,” he wrote. “On top of that, I get to do it at Respawn…And we, like you all, have no shortage of Star Wars passion…we promise to pay respect to the Star Wars legacy at all times, a fact that will be constantly reinforced and honored as a central game design tenet. Fans should expect the exemplary level of quality first established at Respawn with Titanfall, a game that epitomizes our studio’s dedication to slick, larger-than-life action and fun, groundbreaking mechanics.”

There are many tantalizing possibilities for Respawn’s Star Wars game, and it’s hard not to get excited about the possibility of getting some next-gen Jedi action as well as the potential to step into the role of classic Star Wars characters or the new heroes who debuted in The Force Awakens.

According to Asmussen, the new Star Wars game is very early in its development cycle, so it probably won’t be coming out soon. But hopefully we’ll get more details in the near future.
