The Tenth Doctor Returning to Cinemas June 16th

Anyone who got to see “The Day of the Doctor” in cinemas last year knows that watching Doctor Who in a big group, on a big screen, is one of the best experiences a fan can have. Huge amounts of fun. Well, Fathom Events and the BBC think it’s sufficiently awesome as well and are going to bring the show back to theaters as part of a two-night event celebrating Tenth Doctor David Tennant.

On Monday, June 16th, at 7:30pm local time, fans can go to participating theaters and see the two-part Tenth Doctor story “Rise of the Cybermen/The Age of Steel,” the episodes that saw the Doctor, Rose (Billie Piper), and Mickey (Noel Clarke) travel to an alternate dimension and come up against, for the first time in the new series, the cold, emotionless Cybermen.

The following night, Tuesday June 17th at 7:30pm local time, for no extra money at all, you can also see the premiere of Wings 3D, a documentary narrated by Tennant depicting the magic and majesty of flight as seen from the perspective of birds themselves. It’s a really glorious piece of documentary done in the typically brilliant BBC nature documentary style.

That’s right; two nights, two Tennants. You’ve probably seen those two Who episodes, but the prospect of seeing them with people on the big screen is pretty neat, I think. Plus, a 3D birds flying documentary – what more could you want?

Tickets are on sale now if you’re interested, and the event will be in 620 theaters across the country, so the odds of one being near you is quite high. Allons-y!

  4. I have taken notice that in old digital cameras, specialized receptors help to aim automatically. Those kind of sensors connected with some video cameras change in in the area of contrast, while others start using a beam with infra-red (IR) light, specially in low lumination. Higher standards cameras often use a blend of both devices and could have Face Priority AF where the video camera can ‘See’ a new face as you concentrate only on that. Thank you for sharing your ideas on this site.

I would so see this, but of all the episodes to show, they couldn’t do like some of the finale episodes put together into a feature length, like Army of Ghosts/Doomsday, Utopia/Sound of Drums/The Last of The Timelords (that one would be aa long one) or say some Matt Smith episodes or a reshowing of Day of The Doctor, I watched it at home when it broadcast, I’d love to have an oppurtunity to see it on the big screen with some of my friends

  13. shanae says:

Weird choice of episodes, certainly nowhere near  the best of Ten.  At least we can be thankful it wasn’t Love and Monsters or the End of Time (shudder). Don’t think I’d pay money to be sitting alone in a cinema to see Tennant gurn on the big screen though. When are we going to see the same for our lovely Eleven? There are heaps better stories to show from that era and they are at least all shot in HD and he has heaps more fans here in the US than Tennant.

  14. JE Smith says:

How are they doing this when those episodes were shot in Standard Definition? It’s not going to look good.

  15. Kelli says:

    WOW and YAY!

  16. Tiffany says:

My local theater is charging and additional $14 for the Wings 3D ticket

  17. Alex says:

With all the awesome things the Alamo Drafthouse does and shows, I’m surprised they haven’t jumped at the opportunity to host any Doctor Who events.

  18. So would you say that tickets for this are “flying” off the shelf? lol

  19. Janelle says:

    Tuesday the *17th 🙂
