If you haven’t watched the first season of Stranger Things or don’t want hints about what might happen in the second season, beware the spoilers ahead.
Season two of Netflix’s breakout hit Stranger Things has been all but confirmed (here’s what we know so far), so what will future episodes have in store? We can’t say for certain, but series creators Matt and Ross Duffer recently spoke to IGN and gave some insight into what ultimately happened to two characters whose fates seemed indefinite at the end of Season 1.
For instance, it looks like there’s a strong possibility Dr. Martin Brenner is coming back following his unceremonious final Season 1 scene: “I would say that if we were going to kill Brenner⦠as an audience member watching the show, if that was his death, that would be very unsatisfying to me â when the monster jumps on him and we cut away,” Matt said, “He would deserve much more than that as an ending. So yes, thereâs a possibility of seeing him again.”
Sadly, and as those of you who watched the show probably suspected, a Barb return seems very unlikely at this point: “I canât see it happening, but Barb will not be forgotten,” Matt said. “Weâll make sure thereâs some justice for Barb. People get very frustrated, understandably, that the town doesnât seem to be really dealing with Barb. That stuff is all happening. Weâre just not spending any screen time on it. Itâs not like her parents are like ‘Oh Barb left. She died!'”
He continued and added that Season 2 will likely explore the aftermath of the portal to the Upside Down and all the madness that came with it: “Season One actually takes place over the course of six or seven days â itâs a really short period of time. So part of what we want to do with hypothetical Season Two is to explore the repercussions of everything that happened.”
We’re sorry to dash your hopes of zombie Barb, but hey, at least Season 2 of Stranger Things really seems to be picking up some serious steam.
