The Story Of Santabot 2.0

This weekend, as some of you may have noticed in the news or while walking around Manhattan, was SantaCon in New York, the annual convergence of people dressing as Santa and reindeer and related North Pole denizens (or, if they’re so inclined, even dreidels or other holiday entities) to wander around and gather together and drink, although they don’t like you to call it a pub crawl, while collecting food for charity. Nick Brewer of MakerBot got into the spirit of things a few years ago by creating and donning a Robot Santa costume. Robot Santa! How was this not a thing before? Anyway, he made the above mini-documentary about the making of Santabot 2.0 for the 2010 SantaCon. We thought that you’d enjoy it, considering that, well, ’tis the season.

And, yes, Nick really does hail from the Fairbanks suburb of North Pole, Alaska.

Dan Glass at Wired has more on Nick and the video right here.
