Roberto Orci is no longer directing Star Trek 3, which can only mean one thing: someone new and exciting is getting beamed up to the Starship Enterprise!
Join Jessica Chobot on today’s Nerdist News as she breaks down the short list of five directors competing for the chance to helm Star Trek 3, and analyzes who the likeliest candidate is! Here’s a hint: we’d go ape for this guy if he got the job.
Thanks for watching today’s show, find out what you missed by not playing Dishonored, and let us know in the comments below who you think would be the perfect fit for Star Trek 3. Oh, and shout-out to The Order: 1886! JONATHAN FRAKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No Frakes you.
Don’t know what tech you’re using for video advertising, but it sucks because the ad plays then the screen goes black when viewing in Firefox on a Galaxy S5

“Lensflare”
Joe Cornish
Kurt Wimmer would be interesting.
So glad that NONE of the choices are Frakes. He SUCKS!!!
Frakes is a TERRIBLE director!!! What the hell is the matter with you people? He has the directing equivalent of a tin ear. If you want the new Star Trek movie to look and play like a bad made for Sci Fi Movie from the 90’s, then SURE. Hire Frakes.
You imbeciles. You are the reason I LOVE Star Trek but HATE the fans!
But how do you REALLY feel?
Jessica,
That cover shot of you in a Star Trek uniform is quite possibly the sexiest thing to ever be posted on this site.I say you wear it home for Blair and make it an early Xmas!
I also support Frakes for the position. I get what they are trying to do with the franchise but Star Trek was never meant to be like Star Wars. I know Insurrection isn’t the most popular movie but it’s one of my favorites. It stood for something more than just an action flick, it it had a theme and Star Trek is about the story more than action. Aside from that Johnathan Frakes may be able to bring a Trek feel back to the franchise.
I subscribe to your youtube channel, when I received the notice that this episode was uploaded I was faced with “this video is private” & had to go to your twitter to find the video :/

I loved First Contact, and although Insurrection wasn’t great, that wasn’t really Frakes’ fault. But as long as we’re putting odds on directors, I’d put him at 100:1. He doesn’t fit the style of the “new” Trek. I’d be happy with Rupert Wyatt. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes was great.

Jonathan Frakes or Nicholas Meyer…the two people who get it. #BringInRiker
