Our pal and Pop My Culture co-host Vanessa Ragland dropped me a line the other day to alert me to a special event coming up in L.A. that she thought you’d like to know about, and, well, yeah, it is something you, provided you’ll be in Los Angeles next Wednesday, will want to attend.
It’s a special holiday show hosted by The Spanglers, that musical duo of some repute that bear a remarkable resemblance to Vanessa Ragland and Jamie Flam (I’ve never seen them in the same room together), and it’s called “GOSH! This is Festive!” It’s an evening of comedy and music to benefit the No Kid Hungry organization, helping get nutritious food to kids and educate their families how to cook healthy and affordable meals. The lineup includes very funny people Andres Dubouchet, Jon Daly, John & Jessie Ennis, Wayne Federman, Nick Kroll, Hugh Moore, Henry Phillips, Clownvis, Baron Vaughn, the Weekend Pilots, some short holiday films by the geniuses (genii?) at 5 Second Films, live music by Deux Sons, and, of course, America’s sweethearts, The Spanglers. Also, there’ll be an after party with DJ Cheapshot and Stubbs and a holiday bake and craft sale featuring local vendors and artists, with a percentage of all proceeds going to No Kid Hungry.
So it’s exactly the kind of holiday cheer that you thought went out of commission when the King Family stopped doing their specials on TV. (Google ’em) Again, it’s on Wednesday, November 19th at the Hayworth Theatre, 2511 Wilshire Blvd. Los Angeles, at 8 pm. Tockets are $12 in advance, $15 at the door, and it’s for a great cause, so buy your tickets now, laugh, enjoy.
