THE SIMPSONS Gets Pixelated in New Tribute

There are few cartoons more modifiable than The Simpsons. In fact, the series is so malleable that the creative team often works to find ways to play with it in both the infamous couch gag and actual narrative story. However, the latest twist on America’s favorite family doesn’t come from official channels (unless this is some elaborate viral campaign), but from genius pixel animators, Paul Robertson and Ivan Dixon, who have taken the series’ pop-culturally famous intro and turned it into a work of pure, blocky art. Check it out:

Even though there are those who claim the series hasn’t been in tip-top shape for many years, it’s hard to make an argument against its relevancy when things like this come out. No one’s making top-notch pixel art for All in The Family, The Jeffersons, The Jetsons or South Park. They’re making it for The Simpsons. Plus, when coupled with the fact the Fox series just recently ran a record setting back-to-back marathon on FXX a mere few months ago, we would again make the case The Simpsons is just as relevant now as it was in December 1989.

The creators of this video seriously deserve all the (Duff) beers because this just gave us one of the most epic smiles we’ve had in a while.
