We know it’s unpossible for Ralph Wiggum to fail English, but the lovable little guy definitely came up short when he created his own signature dish, a grilled crayon sandwich with thumbtacks. Or did he? Because one of our favorite online chefs has recreated Ralph’s colorful food and the results….are not surprising. But don’t worry, because he also found a way to make an edible version.
Andrew Rae from the YouTube channel Binging with Babish joined Rhett and Link on Good Mythical Morning for a crossover episode dedicated to making Ralph Wiggum’s cooking contest-rejected crayon sandwich from The Simpsons‘ season 16 episode “All’s Fair in Oven War.” They cooked with real crayons (though we know their controversial decision to take the paper off the crayons will be hotly debated–though it’s hard to argue with them not putting thumbtacks in it), and then they actually ate it. Or at least they tried.
Nope. Nooooope.
But don’t worry, because on Binging with Babish Rae followed up by making a genuinely edible version of Ralph’s “crayon” sandwich. You can see it at the end of this video where he makes Seymour Skinner’s POW stew (which looks awesome).
Even without actual crayons that is one weird looking sandwich. There are just some colors that shouldn’t be in a grilled cheese.
Would you eat either version of the crayon sandwich? Take a bite out of our comments section with your answer.
