The Riddler Is Coming To GOTHAM

Considering all the news already floating around the interwebs and shooting being currently underway, it’s totally understandable many would expect a bit of downtime in news surrounding Fox’s upcoming Jim Gordon original story series, Gotham. Of course if you think that, you’d be wrong, as today, news broke that another major Batman villain has been cast in the series, and it’s a good one. And no, this isn’t an April Fool’s prank.

According to reports from EW and Deadline, actor Cory Michael Smith has been tapped to play Edward Nygma, a/k/a The Riddler. The current reports state the role will be for merely a guest spot in the pilot but could grow into a series regular as the show continues. The series’ version of the characters is described as “a brilliant but socially awkward forensic scientist who’s eccentric and outgoing and desperate to be liked.”

This all sounds good to us. Gotham‘s really taking this “show about the villains” thing seriously, and that’s a good thing. It could lead to a very compelling series come the fall.

What Batman villains are you hoping to see on the show.

What is going on with editing in these articles today?

Human villains are easy. I’m curious to see if/how they’re going to handle some of the more “science fiction-y” villains like Man-bat, Clayface and Killer Croc.
