Valiant is putting out so many great comics these days, it’s hard to keep up. Wrath of the Eternal Warrior is another solid debut and perfect jumping-on point, to boot. Sure, it references lots of stuff that has been happening in the larger Valiant Universe lately, but it fills you in quickly, looks amazing, and offers plenty of mystery. Every page is a work of art thanks to the amazing duo of Raul Allen and Patricia Martin. Wrath of the Eternal Warrior has a look and feel all it’s own. If you’ve been sleeping on the Valiant line, now is the time to dive in, preferably headfirst, armed with a battle axe, into a pit of demons.

The Mighty Thor #1

The number on the front might say #1, but this is just another solid issue in Jason Aaron’s epic Thor run. Russell Dauterman and Aaron have proven themselves a creative team with which to be reckoned, and this issue only further proves that point. It’s beautiful, elegant, tough, and fun. This new Marvel relaunch — if you can even call it that — is seriously on point. The books have an energy about them, something that feels like a mixture of classic superhero fun and the first step into a bold new era.

Pretty Deadly #6

Pretty Deadly has been gone for far too long. The good news is that it didn’t lose a step during the hiatus. This comic is as elegant, dark, and intriguing as ever. You might want to brush up on the lore of the series since it has been away for a minute, but any excuse to jump back into this world is a welcome one. Part western, part fantasy, and part fairy tale, Pretty Deadly is unlike anything else on the shelves, which is maybe why we love it so damn much.

Batman: Europa #1

Man, this one has been a long time coming. A really, really long time coming. So long, in fact, that most of us had written it off as a series that simply was never going to come out, a myth whispered only in the dark corners of comic book conventions. And yet, here we are. The first issue of Batman: Europa is out. It exists. That alone made me throw it onto my pull list. Okay, names like Brian Azzarello and Jim Lee didn’t hurt either, but you know what I mean. If nothing else, this comic features Batman in his classic duds, underwear on the outside and everything. Worth the cover price alone.

Usagi Yojimbo #150

In a day and age when most comics struggle to reach issue #20, Usagi Yojimbo goes the distance and reaches the mega milestone of issue 150. Stan Sakai has been plugging along at this series for as long as I can remember and it has always been good, if not spectacular. It’s an easy-to-read series that you can just pick up and enjoy. Whether you are a longtime reader or new to the story of this samurai sword-wielding rabbit, you’ll find a lot to love in this issue. If you’ve never given this series a go, start now and start here. It’s fun stuff that not enough people read. If you dig it — and chances are you will — you have 149 issues to go dig up and enjoy. That’s a sweet spot to be in.
