Later this month, Disney will revisit Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book with a new live-action and CGI adaptation from director Jon Favreau that modernizes the classic animated film. Ahead of that release, the Poster Posse has unleashed seven new posters inspired by The Jungle Book!
Rich Davies, Chris Malbon, Mike Mahle, Tom Miatke, the Dark Inker, John Aslarona, and Tracie Ching were the contributing artists for these Jungle Book posters. And the first thing that we noticed is that the tiger, Shere Khan, is prominently featured in six out of the seven posters. Thatâs understandable, since Shere Khan has a powerful visual and heâs the main villain of the story. Miatkeâs poster has a particularly striking image of Shere Khan and a torch, which plays into the climax of the story.
Ching bucked the trend by creating a poster that focuses almost exclusively on Mowgli, the âMan Cubâ who was raised by wolves in the jungle, as played by newcomer Neel Sethi. Baloo, Bagheera, King Louie, and Shere Khan are only present in this image as carvings in the wall behind Mowgli.
You can see the rest of the posters in our gallery below. The Jungle Book is heading to theaters on Friday, April 15 with a stellar voice cast that includes Bill Murray, Ben Kingsley, Idris Elba, Lupita Nyong’o, Scarlett Johansson, Giancarlo Esposito, Christopher Walken, and Garry Shandling.
