The P.T.-Inspired Game ALLISON ROAD Has Been Resurrected

When Konami cancelled Hideo Kojima and Guillermo Del Toro‘s Silent Hills—which first appeared as the seriously spooky P.T.—our survival horror-loving hearts shattered. A few months later, a little game called Allison Road, developed by Lilith, crept into our hearts and mended some of the damage with gameplay (which you can check out above) reminiscent of P.T. Despite surpassing 50% of the funding goal on Kickstarter, and being picked up a publisher (Team17) the title, like the game it took inspiration from, was cancelled back in June.

If you were equally as sad about that as that as we were, I’ve got some good news for you: Christian Kesler, creator of Allison Road, just confirmed via IGN and a lengthy post on the game’s Facebook page that development on the title is going to continue!

“It did take a bit of soul searching to find the drive again to work on Allison Road and to simply make a call on what to do next,” Kesler told IGN. “After the set back, I took a bit of a break from working on it and re-evaluated all the work that had been done so far — the whole journey, so to speak. I started making a few (in my opinion) necessary changes to the story and the flow, little bits and pieces here and there, and before I knew it, it sort of naturally came back to life.”

In the Facebook post, the developer explained that when he took time off he, “went back to work and had a good look at all the stuff that had been done up to that point.” He continued, “I started making a few changes to the story, a few scribbles here and there, some layout tests and before I knew it it sort of organically picked up pace. Quite funny how these things go sometimes.”

At the time of writing, we don’t know when the game will release—or even what the changes Kesler made to the game entail—but we’re excited to learn more. Kesler explained that he is going to continue working on the title alone, but may look for additional support if he wants to add new mechanics. Because it is a “passion project” for him, Kesler explained that it might take a while. If the project ends up being everything we hoped Silent Hills would be, he can take all the time in the world.
