The Official CALL OF DUTY: BLACK OPS III Reveal Trailer is Here

“Weapons don’t have instincts. Weapons don’t have loyalty. Weapons don’t have judgement. People do. What happens when the soldier becomes the weapon?”

That is the question posed in the Call of Duty: Black Ops III debut trailer featuring the Rolling Stones tune “Paint it Black” [Editor’s Note: Surely a reference to Full Metal Jacket, no?]. As we’ve already revealed in our detailed preview of the game (which you can find here), Treyarch’s upcoming Call of Duty game takes place in a dark and gritty future–in the year 2065 to be exact–and features soldiers with access to Direct Neural Interface (DNI) technology. The ability to harness this tech transforms soldiers into the ultimate weapon, infused with human ingenuity.

In the trailer, you’ll see a lot of what we were talking about in our preview article in action. First things first, we’re given a closer look at the cybernetically enhanced squad. With their new augments, they’re able to do things like swim/shoot under water and thrust up out of it to surprise enemies. Wall-running through tight corridors and pouncing on unsuspecting victims or hitting the ground and power-sliding in the opposite direction will also be possible modes of traversal.

We also get to see a couple of the Cyber Cores–which offer players special skills–in action. While we already mentioned the ability to hack drones to provide cover for your team mates, another interesting core we were told about and are shown in the video involves deploying nanobots called fireflies which light enemies on fire. There will be over 40 up-gradable abilities in the game, so it will be interesting to see more of them in action.

There will also, as the video reveals, be a beta available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC and those who pre-order the title will gain access to it. There was a whole lot more shown off in the video, but we’ll let you experience that for yourselves.

So what did you think of the new trailer? Are you excited yet? Let us know in the comments below.

Call of Duty: Black Ops III is set to release November 6, 2015.
