THE NIGHT MANAGER First Look: Tom Hiddleston vs. Hugh Laurie

Tom Hiddleston as a super spy vs. Hugh Laurie as the “worst man in the world.” This dangerous cat-and-mouse game is about to become your new TV obsession.

The Night Manager, AMC’s original six-part miniseries produced with BBC One and The Ink Factory, is about to combine all the best aspects of a suspenseful TV show into one: gorgeous men with accents, beautiful and breathtaking set pieces, international intrigue … and oh, did we mention Tom Hiddleston and Hugh Laurie, together in one show?! That’s almost too much for one series.

Adapted from John le Carré’s espionage drama, The Night Manager follows former British soldier Jonathan Pine (Hiddleston) who is recruited by intelligence operative Angela Burr (Olivia Colman) to infiltrate the inner circle of international businessman Richard Onslow Roper (Laurie) and detonate the unholy alliance he has ministered between the intelligence community and the secret arms trade. To get to the heart of Roper’s vast empire, Pine must withstand the suspicious interrogations of his venal chief of staff Major Corcoran (Tom Hollander) and the allure of Roper’s beautiful girlfriend Jed (Elizabeth Debicki). In his quest to do the right thing, Pine must first become a criminal himself.

Earlier today, at the 2016 Berlin International Film Festival, AMC released the first two episodic clips from the series premiere. The first shows the very beginning of Pine’s new assignment, and the events in his life that have led him to sign up for such a dangerous operation. In the first clip, Pine meets Burr for the first time and confesses his reasons for pursuing Richard Roper. Check out their game-changing conversation.

And the second clip shows one of the first interactions between Pine and Roper in Zermatt, which set both men on an explosive new path when Pine infiltrates Roper’s operations. Watch their tense exchange right here.

The Night Manager is executive produced by Simon Cornwell, Stephen Cornwell, Stephen Garrett, John Le Carré, David Farr and Susanne Bier, who also served as director.

Are you excited to see Hiddleston and Laurie together on a TV show?
