The live-action DC Extended Universe is beginning with the traditional DC superheroes in Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Next summerâs Suicide Squad is where things start to get insane. And make no mistake, no one on the Suicide Squad is a hero! And that’s a good thingâso we’re breaking it all down in a siiiick new episode of Nerdist News.
During the DC Films Presents: Dawn of the Justice League special on The CW, Warner Bros. unveiled the new Suicide Squad trailer, which was set to Queenâs “Bohemian Rhapsody.” The trailer also illustrated the basic premise of the film: the Suicide Squad is a team made up of villains who are blackmailed into taking on one of the most dangerous individuals on the planet: the Joker (Jared Leto)!
Not surprisingly, Will Smithâs Deadshot was given the first introduction in the trailer, which also touched upon Killer Croc (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje), Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), El DIablo (Jay Hernandez), Katana (Karen Fukuhara), Slipknot (Adam Beach), and Enchantress (Cara Delevingne).
Of course, Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) also received a big spotlight in the new trailer, as she demonstrated just how crazy she really is. Even Harleyâs joke about her own insanity is hilariously unsettling.
Suicide Squad also stars Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flagg, the man tasked with keeping his team of villains in line…if he can. Viola Davis co-stars as Amanda Waller, the woman in charge of the Suicide Squad/Task Force X, with Ben Affleck also slated to appear as Batman.
