The New LOGAN International Poster Is Gorgeous, and More Movie Stories

Whether you’re a Wolverine fan or not, you’ll definitely want to check out the latest poster for Logan in today’s Movie Morsels, because these days movie posters really don’t get much more beautiful than this. Plus, we’ve got the latest footage from Kong: Skull Island, an awesome new mannequin challenge video for Disney’s A Wrinkle in Time, and much more!

Logan

The movie poster has become, for the most part, a lost art, with most of today’s one-sheets utilizing Photoshopped profile shots of a film’s stars instead of the glorious illustrations of yesteryear. Sure, Mondo and other nerd-friendly companies make some fantastic limited editions, but as far as official studio marketing materials go, it’s pretty much pfft these days. That’s why I’m thrilled to see the new international poster for Hugh Jackman’s final Wolverine film, Logan. Yes, it uses photography instead of illustration, but it does so in a very cool way. I’m hoping the parent-child dynamic that both this poster and Logan‘s latest trailer emphasize, between that of Wolvie and the young mutant Laura (a.k.a. X-23) he’s sworn to protect, is one the film takes full advantage of. Not unlike how Aliens‘ heart was the bond between Ripley and Newt…

Jackie

Whoa! Who says historical dramas have to be stodgy and dusty? Just take a look at the trailer for Jackie, starring the always watchable Natalie Portman as former First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy. Set in the days following President Kennedy’s death, it focuses on his widow coming to terms with her grief while forced to be under the microscope of a mourning nation. Based on the trailer alone, you just know Portman’s gonna get another Oscar nom for this December 2nd release. And she’ll probably deserve it!

Kong: Skull Island

We’re only one day away from the release of the latest trailer for Kong: Skull Island, and yesterday the kind folks at Warner Bros. gave us another few seconds of the great ape in action. If the Seventh Wonder of the World looks this impressive in Twitter video form, just imagine how good he’ll look on an IMAX screen…

A Wrinkle in Time

The mannequin challenge strikes again! This time around, however, the latest social media fad is being used to announce the release date of Ava Duvernay’s adaptation of the classic young adult novel A Wrinkle in Time, with cameos from some of the film’s cast, and the final reveal by its lead, newcomer Storm Reid. Since A Wrinkle in Time is all about traveling through space and time via other dimensions, this is the most thematically appropriate mannequin challenge I’ve yet seen.

Rules Don’t Apply

Finally today, Lily Collins is best known for her acting and modeling. But in the new trailer for her latest film Rules Don’t Apply, Phil Collins’ daughter takes a page from her old man’s book and sings the title song of the romantic-comedy period drama. The film costars the new Han Solo himself, Alden Ehrenreich, and features an all-star cast of acting powerhouses, including the film’s director Warren Beatty, Annette Bening, Alec Baldwin, Matthew Broderick, Martin Sheen, and Ed Harris. Collins and Ehrenreich really do capture the glamor of old-time Hollywood quite well in what is as much music video as movie trailer…
