Yahoo has unveiled its exclusive extended trailer for Neill Blomkamp’s hard science fiction adventure Elysium, which shows Matt Damon getting harassed by robots, Jodie Foster being smug in a tower, and Sharlto Copley looking mangled and angry. Again. It also gives us a bit more info about the plot of the movie, which is an allegory about the haves and the have-nots, not a new topic for sci-fi, being a part of pretty much every futurist story in the last 30-40 years. Hmm, wonder why that trope hasn’t gone away. Still, the movie looks pretty excellent, and Matt Damon gets all robo-awesome and that’s what we all want to see. Just hand Blomkamp the Halo movie right now. He can handle it.
Elysium hits theaters August 9th. Get ready to have your boredom-cancer forcibly removed.
