The Mystic Dark Knight Of The Oingo Boingo

Remember how, on the first guestless Nerdist Podcast, Chris talked about having a meal in a restaurant in close proximity to what appeared to be Danny Elfman, and how that led to a discussion of Elfman’s Batman music?  Well, then, here’s what The Dark Knight‘s Batpod scene is like with Elfman’s 1989 Batman score added: click here for it.  (It has the dreaded “Embedding Enabled By Request” notice, so we have to do it with a link)

Put music behind anything and it really does make a difference.  I’d love to see the same scene with Looney Tunes music.  Or Flintstones music.  Someone get on that.

The plural of aenodcte is not data. To all those who say, I was fed formula and I’m perfect. A friend was breastfed and is sick and horrible (in whatever way you say it), great for you. That’s an ANECDOTE. It’s not data. JJ, you’re a Dr of what? A PhD? A liar? An MD? You never specified. You also did not list any peer-reviewed research to support your claims. Others have provided research.I do believe in extended nursing, and I guarantee it’s not for me. I would be totally fine if my daughter stopped nursing. I’ve been doing the don’t offer, don’t refuse method of weaning for 8 months now, and my daughter is still choosing to nurse. Does she nurse as much as she did as an infant? No, absolutely not. It’s nutrition, it’s comfort, and it’s a way to connect with me. Sometimes when she’s hurt, she asks to nurse. Sometimes she asks for kisses. She is a toddler, still very little, and I am willing to comfort her how she needs. And the few times she’s been sick, nursing has saved us when she couldn’t keep down food or didn’t feel like eating, nursing kept her going. This incredible need to bash parents is ridiculous. Her choices do not affect you. I believe in nursing, but I don’t get all pissy and bash a mom who chooses to wean her child or give formula. It’s a parent’s choice. The lack of knowledge is amazing, too. If you’re going to spout off about how bad something is, research it first. RESEARCH (not, my parents did this and I’m fine or other anecdotal information) supports the idea that children whose needs are met who are held, comforted, etc. are more independent children. Not aenodctes research.

I enjoyed ltisening to I, Too, Sing America by DS & DM (4A). This was mainly because their voices were nice and clear to me unlike many of my classmates whose voices were hard to understand. They really set the mood of the poem by talking very slowly for the fist ha;lf and, then speeding up and talking happier for the second half of the poem. The only thing I would change is I would let people be able to see the pictures you have for a little bit longer.

I’m sorry but that really doesn’t work for me. Elfman’s hero theme seem wildly inappropriate for the action we’re seeing. Burton’s Bat-films were big on the iconography of Batman. He would often enter a scene seemingly in flight, you almost always saw the yellow bat-logo on his chest, the sets and vehicles were stylized. They even did the bit where the Batplane was silhouetted against the moon to create the logo in the film. It was very much about spectacle and the music went perfect with that. The Nolan films took a more utilitarian/realistic approach to set and vehicle design. In this scene you don’t really get a great look at the Batpod itself. There aren’t any flames coming out of the back. The cape doesn’t even flutter or whip excessively. For me this kind of soaring theme doesn’t fit with what I’m seeing on screen.

Someone needs to add circus music to the Walking Dead trailer.

  5. Rad. I’ll go toward whimsical over realism any day.

Years ago I did a similar thing with the intro video from Resident Evil 2 and music from Pee Wee’s Big Adventure.

What’s really cool is the knowledge of The Mystic Knights of Oingo Boingo! Who remembers that? You do sir, you do.
