The Music Geek Track of the Week: “Weekend”

I’d like to dedicate this track to Labor Day for curtailing the five day wait until the next weekend to a very tolerable four.

An overt but welcome paean to those sacred two and a half days of respite, “Weekend” is the second single to appear from Class Actress’s upcoming album Rapprocher. Much like “Keep You,” Rapprocher’s first single, “Weekend” weaves the gossamer of vocalist Elizabeth Harper through jouncing, congealing synths. My favorite parts of the song are those that develop a sense of anxiety and urgency before the chorus explodes into its cathartic chant: “Bring it on/bring on the weekend!” My plans for the weekend include a really long road trip around Lake Michigan, so I am going to have to be super careful about not blowing out the speakers in my car with this song.
