The Mockingjay Lives in the Latest Chilling THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY Trailer

We’ve seen teasers and propaganda-esque footage from The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, but the first full trailer has landed and it’s giving me goose bumps. When we last saw Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence), she was on her way to the mysterious District 13. The wrecked district is the home of the rebellion, and it doesn’t take long to see that Katniss is being pushed into the spotlight as a leader all because of the seemingly innocent actions she took during her first Hunger Games. They were interpreted as actions against the Capitol, and she sparked the revolt. The beginning of the trailer shows her explaining that she never meant to cause any of this, but President Snow doesn’t care. Take a look:

Gah. Could President Snow’s smile be any creepier? I don’t think it’s possible.

The trailer is packed with action and emotion. The scene featuring Katniss making demands of President Coin, District 13’s actual leader, was especially amazing. They may be leveraging her as the Mockingjay, but she’s not afraid to push back. It’s how she should act given her protective feelings towards Peeta.

And would you get a load of District 13? It’s one thing to picture the area while reading the books, but something else entirely to see it brought to life. Coin has developed the base into a formidable training ground. It looks harsh and nothing like home, which probably makes things even harder for Katniss.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 will be out on November 21st, but I’m ready to see it tomorrow.
