In a movie full of standout characters and brilliant bits, one of The LEGO Movie‘s best achievements was Will Arnett voicing a clueless, conceited a-hole version of the Dark Knight himself, Batman. It was such a hilarious departure from most portrayals of the character, and poking fun at the all-too-serious superhero was a terrific route to take. We liked it so much, we would love a whole movie based on LEGO Batman…wait, there is one! The LEGO Batman Movie will be released in February and we’re beyond excited to explore more of the DC Comics cadre in ridiculous, brick-building form.
And what’s maybe even cooler about it is we’ll get to see this all in IMAX if we want to. Imagine Gotham City in full bricked glory, on a screen the size of a building in that very city. I mean, it’s the stuff that dreams are made of. And to celebrate the announcement of The LEGO Batman Movie coming to IMAX, we have an exclusive poster to share below, depicting Batman (Arnett) swooping down from the rooftops, flanked by Batgirl (Rosario Dawson) and the goofy, bespectacled, doe-eyed Robin (Michael Cera).
We were already pretty stoked about this movie and its casting of Zach Galifianakis as the Joker, but our excitement really took off when it was recently announced that none other than Billy Dee Williams (real name: William December Williams) himself would be voicing a LEGO version of Two-Face, whom he never got to play in the live action movies despite carrying the role of the villain’s alter ego Harvey Dent. That’s the level of esoteric geekery and attention to humor that we want in our toy-spinoff superhero flicks.
Let us know what you think of this poster, and of The LEGO Batman Movie in general, in the comments below!
