THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE Casts Zach Galifianakis as The Joker

Every iteration of Batman must have his Joker. Even LEGO Batman needs his Clown Prince of Crime. Now Will Arnett’s LEGO Dark Knight may have finally met his match.

Zach Galifianakis is reportedly in final negotiations to join The LEGO Batman Movie as the Joker. The film is a spinoff of The LEGO Movie in which Arnett first played LEGO Batman. Michael Cera (Scott Pilgrim vs. The World) is voicing Robin in the movie.

Galifianakis is best known for his starring roles in The Hangover trilogy, Due Date, The Campaign, and Birdman in addition his comedy/talk show podcast, Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis. On television, Galifianakis starred in Tru Calling, Dog Bites Man, Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!, Bored To Death, and the upcoming series Baskets.

The LEGO Movie directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller are a little busy writing a Spider-Man animated film for Sony and preparing to helm a Star Wars Anthology film about Han Solo. Therefore, Lord and Miller are only executive producing The LEGO Batman Movie for director Chris McKay, who served as animation supervisor on The LEGO Movie. Seth Grahame-Smith (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter) is writing the script for The LEGO Batman Movie.

The LEGO Batman Movie will smash its way into theaters on May 26, 2017.
