THE LATE LATE SHOW Parodies Shia LaBeouf’s Film Project

Last week, Shia LaBeouf watched every movie he has appeared in, in a reverse chronological order. It was done as a performance art installation that was simply referred to as #ALLMYMOVIES. Fans were able to join him at the small theater in New York City, but the rest of us watched a live stream of him as he laughed, cried, cringed, slept, and stuffed his face with popcorn.

The installation was a huge hit with the internet generation, who could not help but gawk at the stream with intense fascination. It was also parodied on The Late Late Show with James Corden: James Corden and band leader Reggie Watts watched all 106 episodes of their show in the same manner. Armed with popcorn, candy, soda, and their own fur-lined green jackets, the two nestled into their theater seats to view eight months worth of comedy and interviews. Throughout their marathon James and Reggie sang-along, laughed, cried, became aroused by British soccer stars, yelled at the screen, and fall asleep before toasting themselves with champagne for being “the only late night show to do 106 episodes.”

While LaBeouf has been an easy target for the past couple of years, it is nice to see that something he did for the sake of art is being embraced and discussed more than ridiculed or mocked. Corden’s parody poked fun more at himself and his show than it did LaBeouf’s actual event. We can’t wait to see what’s next from the enigmatic actor.
