Get Lost with Kyle Kinane

The K Ohle #9: Get Lost with Kyle Kinane

Kurt blindfolds Kyle and drives him to a place he’s never been before while he tries to figure out just where the hell he is. Wonder, awe, chili-chutes, and tiny scooters are themes, as well as why Kyle is a simple man.

I couldn’t have been more pleased by this podcast if I tried. Kurt amazing job! Kinane was a great guest for this.

  2. Kaitis says:

Here’s the Atlas Obscura page Kurt mentioned if anyone else is interested in images and a backstory on the location like I was.

  3. preston says:

this definitely before you encountered the man made me feel like some of the wandering thru a city/woods mushroom trips I’ve been on. haha. great stuff. also, bringing back that vibe of finding little secret crawl spaces like this when i was a kid and inspired to wander more often.

  4. GooseGanja says:

I also loved not knowing where you guys were either. The mystery really kept me super interested and sorta on the edge of my seat. Wtf was that tube tho? … I’m guessing just a service entrance to something that gets visited or checked often.

  5. Frank Gillen says:

i know this is only the beginning but this was my favorite so far, i just love the story and adventure you go on and trying to picture what is being described

  6. Sharon says:

    Love the LOST episodes.

I just wanted to say that my guess about the chute is just that it is providing ventilation. They may turn it off after regular business hours.

  7. Dellinger says:

Love this podcast it keeps getting better week by week cant wait for the “science” e[episode

  8. Ryan says:

Man, what a lovely podcast to stumble upon. I was in a really down mood and just wandering across the internet before clicking on this. Now my day has been 100% brightened. Cheers, man. This is a seriously dope podcast. Really sweet. I’ll be back for more!

  9. lookleftandsmile says:

I loved not knowing what the location was in the beginning. It really put me alongside the guest. I lived in LA for a short stint, so maybe that helped — but really the location you picked for Kyle could have been anywhere in a big city. Those tunnels between city buildings are common (but usually not public domain!).

  10. Adam says:

I agree with it is better off not disclosing the location.
Although at the end, i would perhaps suggest just giving a little editors note of “ok this is where we went. check it out online here or if there’s pictures or something”
I also commend the uniqueness of this format, however i think the wrong guest can easily sink it.

  11. Ben says:

Really enjoyed not knowing where you guys were. Put me in the same position as the guest. Please never tell me again.

  12. Jay says:

I, too was plagued by the Mumford and Sons curse where I thought one band was terrorizing the charts with radio pop vaguely disguised as traditional folk music. Much to my dismay, it’s just what the people want to hear right now. My diatribes have been on a much smaller scale so I’m glad to hear it on the cast. Oh, and Kyle Kinane is always a delight.

  13. Saam says:

Enjoyed the podcast. First time I’ve listened to Get Lost.

I would say that if you’re wondering whether or not to reveal the location of the place you can have a spoiler alert at the beginning of the podcast and if people don’t want to hear it then they can just skip it. That way you’re giving people a choice of whether or not they want to know the location.

  14. heynolan says:

That was a fantastic ride! I enjoy discovering LA vicariously through you guys.

I prefer not knowing where you’re going. Granted, I’m listening from New York (so even if you told me I have no idea where that is) but I like wondering and imagining alongside with your guest.

  15. kurt says:

Thanks, Andrew. Did you prefer not knowing where we were while listening to it?

  16. Andrew says:

    Delightful podcast.

What a weird thing. I love it.

    Favorite format.
