Kurt gets lost in Detroit! Jad Abumrad (co-host of NPR’s Radiolab) allows Kurt to blindfold him, throw him in a car and take him somewhere he’s never been before. This week Kurt is aided by his Detroit local guide, artist and photographer, Julia Solis. You can check out some of Julia’s amazingly beautiful work at www.abandonedtheaters.com!
Thanks to Nick Thorburn from Islands for creating the theme song!

I loved this episode. Listening put the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. I wish this came out on Halloween, not cause it’s creepy, because it’s like exploring a haunted house or something.
Excellent work, Kurt!
My favorite episode. Right up there with the hell gate one.
It’s very weird to heard Jed’s voice outside Radiolab, and I was so happy to hear him swear, for some reason.
You should do one with Robert, next!
Great work, Kurt!
this getlost was amazing!
//// spoiler !?! ///
dug up a great photo that shows the skeleton mural mentioned a few times in the podcast. was so curious to what it really looked like! http://www.google.com/hostednews/getty/article/ALeqM5hcm0eqkn2XFzlwJt839hI6Z9tQOg?docId=179519674
This was a really great place to explore, but the most surprising thing to me was hearing Jad swear.
@efbe I don’t know about Kurt’s philosophy, but a good slogan to go by is “take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footprints.” Record your experience as much as you like, but try not to damage the place for the next explorer to come through.
Are there more photographs of these adventures? Or is it “Not About That”
Thanks, Kurt. The Get Lost format is rad. It delivers a really unique listening experience.
I remember you talking about this episode on the Detroit episode of Comedy Bang Bang! Can’t wait to listen!
