    I am completely dumbfounded that I haven’t listened to Janet or this podcast earlier! As a twenty-something women who is STILL reeling from my adolescent years, this interview (or conversation rather) was enlightening, emotional, and ultimately inspiring.

    Many thanks to Stephanie for sharing her story with both wit and insight and to Janet for being such a thought-provoking host. I can’t wait to dive in and listen to the other podcasts 🙂

    Full immersion elementary schools are awesome. English is such a haphazard language that it makes learning something new a lot harder once that stuff has been set in place. Expose someone to it early, though, and they’ll soak it up like a sponge.

    I have to say, I really liked this one too. Not sure why, it was just very listenable (is that a word? English ain’t my first language). I think what I find fascinating is both what is familiar (and possibly universal in certain cases) in those discussions, and what is completely different to one’s own experience, and how these aspects relate to each other through the conversation. I guess in this case there were many points where I felt I could have jumped in and brought some more ideas in the discussion, but you can’t do that with post podcast comments.

    What a great show! It’s rewarding ti hear from someone who’s had so much going on in her life, but isn’t carrying around tons of resentment and bitterness! And we still haven’t learned what brought her into the entertainment industry; can’t wait to have her back! By the way, it must say something about the universal appeal of this podcast that so many men are devoted listeners of this female focused show!

    Touching, funny, and awesome episode as always. I have to say that this podcast is always a highlight to my week and a real gift that you provide us all. No matter what other podcast I’m listening to at the time, I always shun the others and jump right to the JV Club.

    Love the episode, especially because it hit me really near. First because I’m mexican so it is a joy to hear about my traditions in such a wonderful way, and second because my father died 3 almost years ago and as you can imagine it was very painful. But a few months after his passing I had a dream of him in which we said goodbye in a way that I couldn’t before. I woke up crying and hurting, but a big weight was lifted from me, now I can celebrate his life instead of mourning his death.

    The Corvair was the particular target of Ralph Nader’s book (his first big splash in the public consciousness), UNSAFE AT ANY SPEED…which seems a relevant metaphor, somehow.

    Oh, THE GOOD WIFE is the best dramatic series on US television right now. And that’s in an environment that includes CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL, BORGEN (which comes very close), ARCHER, BREAKING BAD, SHAMELESS, COMMUNITY, PARKS AND REC, COPPER, SOUTHLAND and all…
