The JACK RYAN TV Series Has a Home on Amazon Prime!

Amazon.com will soon become the ultimate showcase for Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan. Fans will be able to buy Clancy’s novels, stream the Jack Ryan movies, and watch the Jack Ryan TV series!

After a bidding war with other networks and streaming services, Amazon Studios came away with the rights to produce the Jack Ryan series that was created by Lost veterans Carlton Cuse and writer Graham Roland for Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes and Paramount TV. This is a straight-to-series order for Jack Ryan, so it’s definitely coming. The big question now is when it will enter production.

Clancy created Jack Ryan in 1984 as one of the main characters in The Hunt for Red October. Over the course of several novels, Clancy depicted Ryan’s rise from a teacher at the U.S. Naval Academy, to his time as a CIA operative and later the Deputy Director of the agency before becoming the President of the United States. Jack Ryan Jr. followed in his father’s footsteps as a covert operative and he is currently headlining his own series of novels by Clancy and other writers who continued the series after Clancy’s demise in 2013.

The Jack Ryan TV series will reportedly not be a direct adaptation of Clancy’s books. Instead, the series will feature an original storyline with Ryan in his prime years at the CIA which will also be set in the present. Last year’s Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit starring Chris Pine (pictured above) in the title role was the most recent attempt to reboot the character in modern times. Other actors who have previously played Jack Ryan include Ben Affleck, Harrison Ford, and Alec Baldwin.

Nerdist readers, who would you cast as the new Jack Ryan on Amazon Prime’s original series? Select your targets and share your intel in the comment section below!
