THE HOBBIT TRILOGY EXTENDED EDITIONS Hit Theaters In October

Peter Jackson’s three-movie adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit may be over. But this fall, moviegoers will have another chance to revisit Middle-Earth.

The Extended Editions of The Hobbit Trilogy will receive their first ever theatrical release in October, courtesy of Far Away Entertainment. But rather than putting Tolkien fans through a feat of endurance, the films will be scheduled on different nights. The first film, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is slated to run on October 5th.

It’s not currently known if The Hobbit Trilogy will run on consecutive nights or if the movies will be spread out through the month. A few theaters have listed The Hobbit: The Battle of The Five Armies Extended Edition for October 13th.

The Extended Edition of An Unexpected Journey adds 13 minutes to the overall film, bringing its runtime to 182 minutes. The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug Extended Edition is 25 minutes longer than the theatrical cut, which brings its runtime to 186 minutes. The Battle of the Five Armies will actually be the shortest of the Extended Editions, with a runtime of 174 minutes. However, The Battle of the Five Armies Extended Edition is exactly 30 minutes longer than the theatrical cut, which means that it has the most new footage.

The good news is that the ticket prices for The Hobbit Extended Editions event will be the standard admission, as set by each theater. More details about locations and times should be announced soon.
