The HANNIBAL Season 3 Gag Reel Will Make You Laugh and Scream

Last summer, NBC pulled the plug on Hannibal, one of television’s most deliciously dark series. Thanks in large part to showrunner and executive producer Bryan Fuller, Hannibal skillfully pushed the boundaries for horror on network television and found an oddly beautiful way to tell its story. And now the prematurely canceled adaptation of Thomas Harris’ iconic serial killer is going to make you laugh.

It’s true! While there were certainly a few moments of macabre humor in Hannibal, the real comedy lies in the annual gag reel. Ahead of the upcoming Hannibal Season 3 release on Blu-ray and DVD, Lionsgate Home Entertainment has unveiled two minutes of the season 3 gag reel…and it’s pretty hysterical.

A good deal of the laughs come from the silly faces that series stars Mads Mikkelsen and Hugh Dancy made in front of the cameras. Gillian Anderson, Caroline Dhavernas, and the other cast members also get in on the fun, and Laurence Fishburne has a particularly great over-the-top moment that draws laughter from his co-stars. The last few seconds of the gag reel seem to channel Tales from the Crypt, as both Dancy and Fishburne laugh uncontrollably at a particularly gruesome and ridiculous moment.

As great as this gag reel is, it’s just the appetizer for the longer version of it on the Hannibal Season 3 set. Fannibals everywhere will be able to get their hands on Hannibal Season 3 on Blu-ray or DVD beginning this Tuesday, December 8. The set includes every episode from the third season, deleted scenes, and even a special featurette dedicated to the Fannibals themselves.
