THE GOLDEN GIRLS Meet SAILOR MOON in Fabulous Mash-Up Art

Nostalgia is a funny thing. It can fool you into thinking that a lot of bad television from the past is actually good, partially because you were a little kid, but mostly because you hadn’t developed a taste level yet. This results in the phenomenon of people who are now adults thinking that shows like Full House made for good TV. Thankfully, neither The Golden Girls nor Sailor Moon fall under this category, because they’re amazing.

Fan and DeviantArt user by the name of Sparklearmy knows this, and he’s paid tribute to the power of Dorothy, Sophia, Blanche and Rose by mashing them up with the powerful girls of the classic anime series. Say hello to Sailor Zbornak (Dorothy), Sailor Petrillo (Sophia), Sailor Nylund (Rose), and Sailor Devereaux (Blanche). Dorothy’s shifty ex-husband Stan is in there as well as Tuxedo Mask, which I guess means he secretly helps the girls on occasion. Together they protect Miami, Florida from the evil forces of the Dark Kingdom, while Sailor Blanche meets single gentlemen at the bar, and Sailor Rose joins a pottery class. Then they all eat cheesecake.

Aside from both series being feminist icons, both shows have a substantial LGBT fanbase, so for gay fans like myself, this art is just extra fabulous. Now I just wish someone out there would make it a real show, or at the very least a YouTube video clip. I challenge you, internet — make it so.

You can see all five of Sparklearmy’s Beautiful Guardians Golden Girls images in our gallery below.

What do you think of this terrific mash-up art? Let us know what you think in the comments.
