Music Geek Track Of The Week: Quadron’s “LFT”

From that first smooth thrust of brass (bass trumpet?) until Coco O’s urgent “come on, girls!,” I knew I was hearing one of my favorite tracks of the year. Looking at the cover art of Danish duo Quadron’s new album Avalanche, I had a a hard time discerning whether Coco’s hoisted arms and downward gaze was meant to signify rapture, grace, or confidence. After deciding that I was treating the album artwork like a high-schooler reading The Catcher in the Rye for the first time, I decided to text my buddy about the song to see what he thought. We agreed that there were definitely hints of Jackson 5, and, at points, Coco even sounded like a young Michael Jackson. But perhaps the most telling text of that conversation was the last one my friend sent: “Mmm European babes.” There were two takeaways from this: 1) Dudes are dumb; and, 2) Sometimes there is stark beauty, and you should just be happy that you get to witness it.
