The Gang Gets Along Great in a New GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 Clip

New footage of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 was screened last night at the 30th (yikes, we’re old) Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards and it’s clear the filmmakers played directly to the sense of humor of their audience with poop and underwear jokes. Thankfully, poop jokes are fairly universal and now we get to enjoy the clip too.

The footage above cements what we’ve seen in the previous clips and trailers with the Guardians still working together but certain personalities rubbing each other the wrong way. Namely, Rocket Racoon and Peter “Star-Lord” Quill. While they bicker, it seems Gamora is still the voice of reason among the team while Drax and Baby Groot just go with the flow. This is a pretty fantastic dynamic with the main cast of characters that is bound to keep us entertained between giant space battles and the inevitable “sometimes I’m a planet but sometimes I’m also a dude that hooked up with your mom” explanation from Kurt Russell‘s Ego the Living Planet.

When you think about it, the main five GOTG  are 40% CGI characters and all of them are often in some sort of green-screened vista. So, with so much added in post production, the cast being engaging in dialogue is important and pretty much all they had to work with during filming. Basically, most scenes with the main cast in space are short vignette plays where, to them, all they had were their lines. And the strength of this shines through even when it’s a conversation about Drax’s “famously huge turds.”

How excited are you for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2? How do you think they’ll explain Ego the Living Planet? Can Drax’s turds live up to the hype? Let’s discuss in the comments below!
