The Fort Worth Police Department Attempts to Help Stormtroopers Stay on Target

Do you remember that scene in A New Hope where Han Solo starts chasing some Stormtroopers down a hallway and then comes across an entire squadron of them? I was always confused as to why Han ran away. It’s not like any of them would have been able to hit him.

Uproxx is reporting that the Fort Worth Police Department is trying to give some guidance to the Empire when it comes to their Stormtroopers and their lack of accuracy (I hope someone eventually told Fort Worth that the Empire are the bad guys). Posted on their Facebook page, the video shows one of Fort Worth’s officers taking a Stormtrooper to the shooting range to show them the ropes of hitting the target you are actually aiming for.

After thinking the problem was that the Stormtrooper was jerking the trigger, the officer realized that his student’s issue was proximity rather than form. I am hopeful that the Empire will use this video as constructive feedback when training recruits in the future. Can you imagine how much money they would save on weapons the size of planets if they just had soldiers that could hit targets? Maybe they could put some of that money back into the Outer Rim communities. The Star Wars universe would have looked completely different.

So what do you think? Will Stormtroopers ever learn to aim correctly? Who is in charge of the Empire’s screening process for recruits, and why haven’t they been fired yet? Let me know on Twitter or sound off in the comments below.
