The Foretellers Arrive in New KINGDOM HEARTS 2.8 Trailer

It’s been over a decade since Kingdom Hearts 2 was released, and despite the side games, the wait for Kingdom Hearts 3 has been nearly unbearable. But now there’s just one more prologue before the saga’s next chapter.

Ahead of E3, Square Enix has dropped a new trailer for Kingdom Hearts 2.8 that shows off the new high-definition gameplay of Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance and its Disney worlds of Tron: Legacy, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and The Three Musketeers. But fans of the series are going to be more intrigued by the footage of Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep–A Fragmentary Passage, the all new game that catches up with Aqua after the events of the original Birth by Sleep!

While we don’t get to see any new Disney inspired levels, A Fragmentary Passage appears to make good use of the Unreal Engine 4, which Kingdom Hearts 3 will also use. The trailer also offers some insight into the Foretellers, another group of Keyblade wielders from Kingdom Hearts χ Back Cover, a one hour cinematic story that is also on the disc. Judging from the new footage, the Foretellers may have a bigger role in the Keyblade war than we previously knew.

Kingdom Hearts 2.8 will be released worldwide for the PlayStation 4 in December. As for Kingdom Hearts 3, the trailer promises that announcements will be made this winter. But we’re hoping to hear more at E3 as well!
