THE FORCE AWAKENS’ “March of the Resistance” Beats on with Rocking Drum Cover

If you’re going to be marching, it helps to have a solid drum beat to keep you going. But if you’re going to be marching against the evil First Order, you’ll need a seriously kick-ass drummer.

Fortunately, the Resistance now has such an ally in their efforts to protect the galaxy far, far away from tyranny. This drum cover of John Williams‘ song “March of the Resistance,” featured in The Force Awakens, proves drummer Lorne Ahmed worthy of the battle.

This song might be associated with the good guys and gals in the newest Star Wars film, but it does sound like it would work just as well if it played when General Hux, Kylo Ren, or the First Order came on screen. It just has a power to it, one that is really highlighted by Ahmed’s pounding drumming playing over it, which lends itself to both sides of the Force. Even the dastardly “The Imperial March” exuded great strength… which is probably why all those high school marching bands are greatly feared.

Here’s the regular version of the song from the film.

This isn’t the first time we’ve brought you one of Ahmed’s Star Wars‘ covers. Recently, he played a great drum cover of “Duel of the Fates,” although we are slightly disappointed to see that the Yoda hat didn’t make it into this new video. He promises that, befitting the subject matter at hand, he will make sure this becomes a trilogy, so we’ll keep an eye out for his next cover.

Which Star Wars song is your favorite? Which one would you like to hear Ahmed cover next time? Tell us in the comments below.
