When Finn turned his back on the First Order he probably didn’t imagine it would do much good for him to voluntarily spend time with a stormtrooper ever again, but it turns out he managed to do a lot of actual good by making just that visit.
John Boyega visited 5-year-old Daniel Bellâwho was dressed in his own tiny little stormtrooper gearâat the Royal London hospital. Only it wasn’t really Boyega that visited him, it was Finn himself; Boyega did it all as his The Force Awakens‘ character, complete with that awesome Poe Dameron jacket, and he even asked Daniel to explain things to him from this strange planet.
Okay, well that’s genuinely wonderful and heartwarming. Not only did Boyega volunteer his time to brighten up the day of a brave little man battling a brain tumor, but Daniel insisted on sharing his famous guest with his fellow patients to cheer them up too. All of that led to this photo and the great story behind it.
You thought it was an awesome moment when Rey kept telling Finn to stop holding her hand in the movie, but this scene is so much better. It’s tough to add anything to a story that stands out all on its own as being truly special, but this is a reminder of the impact Star Wars can have on kids, and even more so it’s a reminder of the good that can come from people willing to share it.
