The Floppy Drive Orchestra Plays “Derezzed” And Other Favorites

Five floppy disk drives playing “Derezzed,” from Daft Punk’s soundtrack for Tron: Legacy? Oh, what the hell, it’s the “dead week” between the holidays, there’s nothing going on, why not?:

But what you really want to hear is the same floppies playing “Party Rock Anthem,” right? No? Here it is anyway:

YouTube user MrSolidSnake745 has done a lot of these, many of themes from video games but also the infamous “Never Gonna Give You Up.” BECAUSE HE CAN. Go check out his library of treasured classics done noisy-floppy-drive style by clicking here. And no fair saying you’re too young to remember floppy disk drives.

  1. I love the Party Rock Anthem one. And glad he found a use for floppy drives.

  2. Pieter says:

Not a lot of people know this but, since Daft Punk are robots, they don’t actually use synthesizers. They record their music by having the various actuators in their bodies move to the rhythm similar to the above videos. It’s kinda like singing to them.

  3. @The_Nicktator says:

No one under 20 has a clue what they’re watching.

  4. Put your Verbatim discs in the air, and wave them like you just don’t care…

  5. Kent says:

Absolutely love this, especially part rock anthem. I’m a huge Daft Punk fan, and a fan of dance music in general and these are great. Thanks for sharing Perry.
