There are SPOILERS AHEAD for the first season finale and the second season premiere of The Flash! If youâre not to date then make like The Scarlet Speedster and start running because weâre going to tell you how a certain character is making his comeback next season!
Still here?
Good.
Because at the end of The Flash Season 1, Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh), a.k.a. The Reverse-Flash, a.k.a. Eobard Thawne was pretty much wiped from history when his ancestor, Eddie Thawne (Rick Cosnett) fatally shot himself to prevent Eobard’s existence. That also created a massive black hole event that nearly destroyed the Earth, but thatâs all water under the bridge six months later in season 2.
While Rick Cosnett has moved on to other projects, The Flash producers have been very transparent about the fact that Tom Cavanagh would still be a series regular. Now we know how. The Flash executive producer Gabrielle Stanton told TVLine that âHarrison Wells will be back, but he’s going to be a very different Harrison Wells than we’ve seen before…We’ve got other worlds. We’ve got other timelines. All I’m going to say is he’s from one of those places.”
The new Harrison Wells wonât have the same relationship with Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) and the S.T.A.R. Labs team that they had with the man whom they thought was Wells. In fact, they never even knew the real Harrison Wells at all because Thawn had killed and replaced him a few decades earlier.
Barryâs new mentor is going to be Jay Garrick (Teddy Sears), the original Flash. And while it was initially assumed that Jay Garrick was coming from an alternate world, the new TVLine report states that he âarrives from the past.â
As for The Flash Season 2âs big bad, Tony Todd has been cast as the voice of Zoom, but the identity of the man behind the mask will be unfolding throughout the entire second season.
The Flash returns to The CW for its second season on Tuesday, October 6. It was also named one of the best returning shows of the fall season on The Dan Cave. Find out what else made the cut and deserves space on your DVR:
