THE FLASH Movie Will Feature a Second JUSTICE LEAGUE Member

Whether it’s the Falcon and Black Widow in its Captain America movies or War Machine in the Iron Man series, Marvel has had more than a little success filling out its so-called solo superhero films with plenty of additional superheroes, so it’s no surprise that Warner Bros. is following suit with its DC Extended Universe. And today’s Movie Morsels reveals who will lend support to The Flash! Plus, the first set photos from Ready Player One, the latest Power Rangers photo, and more…

The Flash

Flash-Flashpoint

Yes, a second Justice Leaguer will indeed appear in The Flash. (Though before all is said and done I wouldn’t be surprised if Warner Bros. planted still more seeds for their upcoming franchises in the film.) Joining Ezra Miller’s Barry Allen and Kiersey Clemons’ Iris West will be Ray Fisher’s Cyborg, in anticipation of the character’s own standalone film in 2020. It’s not clear if the cybernetic superhero will have a supporting role or a mere cameo in The Flash, but, in any case, the movie directed by Rick Famuyiwa, will hit theaters in 2018.

Ready Player One

Thanks to a local Birmingham media outlet, we now have our first look at some of the grungy sets and vehicles of Steven Spielberg’s dystopian adventure Ready Player One. The adaptation of Ernest Cline’s acclaimed sci-fi bestseller stars Tye Sheridan, Olivia Cooke, Ben Mendelsohn, Mark Rylance, Simon Pegg, and T. J. Miller, and lands in theaters on March 30, 2018.

A Star Is Born

Following in the footsteps of her forebears David Bowie and Madonna, Lady Gaga will make her big-screen starring-role debut in a remake of the oft-remade Hollywood classic A Star Is Born. Bradley Cooper will costar as the lover/mentor of Gaga’s ingenue actress (a role for which Beyonce was originally considered), and make his feature-film directorial debut on the project.

The Nutcracker

The Imitation Game

The next screen adaptation of that timeless holiday tale The Nutcracker (or, as E.T.A. Hoffmann titled his 1816 original story, “The Nutcracker and the Mouse King”) has cast its Sugar Plum Fairy with one Keira Knightley (pictured above in The Imitation Game). Mackenzie Foy stars in the lead role of the young Clara, and Misty Copeland and Morgan Freeman costar. Lasse Hallström directs for Disney, a studio that knows more than a few things about Mouse Kings.

Power Rangers

Finally today, we have the latest pic from Power Rangers, Lionsgate’s take on the ’90s TV staple. This new image finds Elizabeth Banks’ Rita Repulsa presumably trapped in the glass prison from which she escapes to wreak havoc on the film’s titular teen heroes…
