First Look at THE FLASH’s Solovar, AMERICAN HORROR STORY News, and More TV News

A cosplay competition series. I’m not surprised it’s becoming a thing. Learn about the show coming from Syfy in today’s TV-Cap, and take a look at Gorilla City’s Solovar in The Flash, get some more information about the theme for season seven of American Horror Story, and more TV news.

Primate Leader. The Flash is taking a trip to Gorilla City with its next episode. I know, the destination is high on your vacation list, too. “Attack on Gorilla City” will bring the team face to face with Solovar, the leader of the primates in the sprawling city. In the comics, Solovar has been a foe of Grodd. In the show? We’ll see on February 21. In the meantime, enjoy this first look at Solovar. Side note: these pictures are giving me Congo flashbacks, and I don’t like it. [CBR, Images: The CW]

Costume Duels. Syfy is jumping on board the cosplay train with a new competition series. Cosplay Melee, hosted by Yvette Nicole Brown, kicks off on March 21. The weekly series will showcase four world class cosplayers each week. They’ll be judged based on their full body costumes and performances. Winners each week will get $10,000. [Deadline]

Huh. American Horror Story showrunner Ryan Murphy was secretive about the theme for season six of the series, but his lips aren’t so sealed for season seven. During an appearance on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live, Murphy told host Andy Cohen the theme for the next season will be the election we just went through. So yes, the 2016 presidential election is the focus of American Horror Story. We’ll leave it at that. [Nerdist]

Dropping By. The mere existence of AMC’s Better Call Saul means we could see more of our favorite characters from Breaking Bad again–characters such as Walter White himself. It’s been hinted at before, and while speaking with Bryan Cranston, our own Sydney Bucksbaum asked the actor about the possibility of White’s return. He explained how he’d like to see it happen, and you can get the details here at Nerdist.

Aging Superheroes. Season two of Crackle’s SuperMansion arrived on February 16, and Sydney talked to series stars Cranston and Yvette Nicole Brown about what’s ahead and what they might have in common with their characters. Read the entire interview here at Nerdist.

Looking Fierce. The next installment of SundanceTV’s Top of the Lake, Top of the Lake: China Girl, is slated to arrive in 2017. Newly released key art for the mini-series features Elisabeth Moss front and center in her role of Detective Robin Griffin. Moss will be joined by Gwendoline Christie and Nicole Kidman in the upcoming season. [Image: SundanceTV]

A Tasty Forecast. Remember Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs? The animated feature is becoming a TV series on Cartoon Network. The show is set before meatballs fall upon Swallow Falls in the films and focuses on Flint Lockwood. Watch a first look above. You can catch the premiere on March 6.

In Development. Chris Colfer (Glee) has partnered with Sonar Entertainment to develop a science fiction drama. The series is titled Indigo and Colfer is on board to star and executive produce, as well as write and direct the pilot. The story looks at Indigo children, kids believed to possess paranormal abilities, and the danger posed to them by people who want to use their powers for nefarious purposes. Looking Back. Thursday night brought some new television. Read our recaps and relive the latest episodes of Powerless, Supernatural, and Riverdale. Then take a trip in the way back machine with Kyle Anderson’s Batman Reanimated series as he starts to look at The New Batman Adventures.
