The First 13 Years of NINTENDO POWER are Now Online!

August marks the 28th anniversary of Nintendo Power, the official magazine of Nintendo that brought gamers the first word on NES, SNES, GameBoy, and other Nintendo systems long before the internet was a thing. And now thanks to the internet, the first 13 years of Nintendo Power are online for everyone to enjoy!

Via The Next Web, you can find issues of Nintendo Power at the Internet Archive, allowing gamers to relish in the back issue glory all the way up through issue 145 in 2001, which was at the dawn of the Gamecube era. Chances are if you grew up with a Nintendo system anytime between 1988 and 2012, you’ve probably read a few issues of the magazine. Nintendo Power was ahead of its time as an official fanzine, with previews, reviews, game guides, interviews, and special features on the games themselves.

One of the more interesting things about looking at this archive is seeing all of the games that fans may have forgotten about from Nintendo’s early years. The game guides are also very well done for any classic gamers looking to delve back into some of the older titles on the Wii U’s Virtual Console.

Comic fans should go straight to Nintendo Power #32, which began the year-long serialization of two fantastic Nintendo manga stories: The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past by Shotaro Ishinomori, and Super Mario Adventures by Kentaro Takekuma and Charlie Nozawa.

This collection of Nintendo Power is missing just over a decade’s worth of issues, since the magazine came to an end in 2012. But short of seeking out every issue on ebay, this may be the next best thing to having them all again!
