Elder Scrolls fans rejoice! With the PS4 and Xbox One launch of The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited inching closer and closer, Bethesda has revealed that the official console beta will kick off tomorrow April 23, at 10 AM EDT and will run until April 27, at 10 AM EDT. Bear in mind, the limited public beta is the only one before launch and is limited to the select few who’ve been invited.
On top of that, Bethesda has warned folks that just because you sign up, that doesn’t mean you’ll receive a highly sought after invite. As of right now, the company hasn’t revealed the criteria or requirements for who gets in and who doesn’t–except of course, signing up to begin with. The official announcement, released by the company today, contains an extensive FAQ and reveals that those who’ve been chosen for the beta will receive additional details in the invite email.
As for the invite itself, Bethesda stated in the FAQ that they started going out today at 10 AM EDT. So if you’re keeping all of your fingers crossed for a potential invite, don’t forget to check your spam box just in case. Also, if you don’t end up getting an invite, don’t fret about it too much. Since there isn’t an NDA, Bethesda is strongly encouraging participants to share screenshots and live-stream the title. The company also strongly advises players to start downloading the game ASAP as the game’s file size is quite large.
Bethesda mentioned that characters created in the beta will unfortunately not transfer over to the official version of the game when it launches in June. They also pointed out that the beta test will not support cross-console play, and will have separate servers for North America and Europe. They also noted that those who’re lucky enough to participate in the beta will have access to the full console version.
On the file size, the developer noted, “The Elder Scrolls Online is an incredibly massive game, both in terms of sheer scope and the data required to bring you this truly enormous experience. At the moment, the client will exceed a 50 GB Blu-ray disc which means there will also be a large day-one patch that is somewhere in the region of 15 GB.”
