This week, we thought The Decemberists were appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live to promote the recent release of their latest album, What A Terrible World, What A Beautiful World, but they totally pulled a funny fast-one on us by revealing a host of new material we never expected to hear.
Turns out, Colin Meloy & Co. have allegedly put together an entire LP consisting of YouTube comments taken from some of the video site’s most captivating clips, including but not limited to:
Cute Pandas Playing On The Slide
Kim Kardashian’s Plastic Surgery Transformation
President Obama’s 2015 State Of The Union Address
We understand this whole thing is a big goof, but if the band did indeed put out an entire album of YouTube comments, we might actually buy it because these jams are catchy.
In fact, how are we supposed to look at videos of “Horrible Boat Crashes” without hearing Meloy’s mellifluous voice crooning, “OH MY GOSH, OH MY GOSH, OH MY GOSH, NO WAYYYY.”
#spoiled
If you’re interested in hearing a real song off The Decemberists’ new album, might we suggest “Make You Better“, which just so happens to feature the bearded brilliance of one Nick Offerman.
The band will be on the road from now until the beginning of July, at least. A full list of dates can be found on their site.
